Privacy Policy - Knockout Picks

Knockout Picks ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Name – used to identify you to other members of your leagues
Email address – used for account recovery and login; you may mark your email as private so it is not visible to other users
Password – stored as a secure, irreversible hash; we never store your plain-text password
Display name and avatar – shown to other league members on leaderboards

If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address from Apple. You may choose to hide your email using Apple's private relay feature, in which case we store only the relay address Apple provides.

Picks and Predictions

We store the match predictions you make, including which teams you pick to win and any tiebreaker values. Your picks, points, and leaderboard rankings are visible to other members of leagues you have joined.

League Membership

We store records of which leagues you belong to, when you joined, and how you were invited. If you create a league, other members can see your display name and rank.

Purchase Information

If you purchase a premium subscription through the App Store, we receive confirmation from Apple that the purchase was made (including the transaction ID, product ID, and date). We do not receive or store your payment card details — all billing is handled entirely by Apple.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and maintain your account
Record and score your match predictions
Display leaderboards within your leagues
Send local match reminders on your device (see below)
Verify in-app purchases with Apple

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Match Data

To display fixtures, results, and scores, our servers retrieve match data from third-party football data providers (Sportmonks and API-Football). These services supply us with match schedules and results; your personal information is not shared with them.

Notifications

Match reminders are scheduled locally on your device using iOS's notification system. No personal information leaves your device to send these notifications — they are triggered by your device's clock, not by an external push notification server.

Information Visible to Others

The following information may be visible to other members of leagues you join:

Your display name and avatar
Your leaderboard rank, total points, and pick results

Your email address is never visible to other users.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and short-lived authentication tokens that expire after 30 days.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and picks for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed from our systems.

Your Rights

You can:

Access and update your profile at any time in Settings
Delete your account from the Settings screen, which permanently removes your data
Request a copy of your data or ask questions about what we hold by contacting us at the address below

Children's Privacy

Knockout Picks is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
